Light, Colour, Shape, Movement
The world around me has always fascinated me – it was saturated with exciting colours That fascination with light, movement, shape, and colour led me into the theatre, T.V., film, puppetry as a set designer and prop-maker. My canvas was huge – Life Size. Now I create on a small scale in the medium of handmade paper that I make and create (develop) into embossments, paintings, collages, masks. The image is created in it fluid form out of paper pulp before it becomes a recognizable piece of paper – a paper painting! I began my paper making (career) in Ottawa with Britt Quinlan, who guided me through the intricacies of paper making – the challenges and surprises. My Studio “deckledge” is in St. Andrews, N.B. on Passamaquoddy Bay. I take time to paint on my papers encouraged by Jay Dampf (Toronto) who encourages me to create outside the box. My Works of art in Paper have homes in private collections in North America, Europe and the U.K. |
